Wesley Tanuvasa

UNESCO Aotearoa Youth Leader

Wesley works as an analyst at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Alongside this, Wesley currently serves as a Pasifika Postgraduate Student Ambassador for the Victoria University of Wellington, which focuses on improving educational outcomes for Māori and Pasifika postgraduates.

He is the recipient of the Victoria University of Wellington Pasifika Master’s by Thesis Scholarship, New Zealand Prime Minister’s Scholarship and Dux Scholarship.

Wesley is a proud Samoan, with his family descending from the villages of Nofoali’i and Magiagi.

As a Pasifika in the New Zealand financial sector, Wesley’s focus during his time as a UNESCO Aotearoa Youth Leader is uplifting the equality of opportunity for marginalised communities and developing better Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) capabilities and outcomes in New Zealand.

Wesley is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington and holds a Masters of Commerce, majoring in International Business and Finance. Wesley is a Tupu Toa alumnus and his experience includes roles at Jarden Wealth, Astris Advisory Tokyo and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He is a current CFA candidate, with a focus on ESG investing.
